Léonie Tchatat
Léonie Tchatat is the founder and president of La Passerelle-I.D.É., the Black-led, Franco-Ontarian organization she founded in 1992 to advance the integration and economic development of Black and racialized Francophone immigrants. Arriving in Canada from Cameroon as a young woman, she has spent more than three decades building bridges between newcomers and their new home.
Under her leadership, La Passerelle-I.D.É. has grown to serve communities across Ontario — with a satellite office in Paris since 2014 — and launched L'Agapanthe, Toronto's first Francophone transition home for refugees of African descent.
Léonie Tchatat est la fondatrice et présidente de La Passerelle-I.D.É., l'organisme franco-ontarien dirigé par et pour les communautés noires qu'elle a fondé en 1992 pour l'intégration et le développement économique des immigrants francophones noirs et racisés. Arrivée du Cameroun jeune femme, elle bâtit depuis plus de trente ans des ponts entre les nouveaux arrivants et leur terre d'accueil.
Sous sa direction, La Passerelle-I.D.É. rayonne partout en Ontario — avec un bureau à Paris depuis 2014 — et a lancé L'Agapanthe, la première maison de transition francophone de Toronto pour les réfugiés d'origine africaine.
Matthew Canaran
Matt Canaran is Executive Director of Friends of Allan Gardens, the volunteer-based charity that stewards Toronto's historic conservatory and the surrounding Garden District. He is leading the once-in-a-generation campaign to expand the Allan Gardens Conservatory — doubling its greenhouse space and reconnecting its wings — while keeping it free and welcoming to all.
As co-chair of Flourish, he brings that vision of a growing, inclusive city to the gala, championing public space as essential social infrastructure for the people it serves.
Matt Canaran est directeur général de Friends of Allan Gardens, l'organisme bénévole qui veille sur la serre historique de Toronto et le Quartier des jardins. Il mène la campagne unique en son genre visant à agrandir la serre d'Allan Gardens — en doublant son espace et en reliant ses ailes — tout en la gardant gratuite et accessible à tous.
Coprésident de Flourish, il porte cette vision d'une ville inclusive et en croissance, défendant l'espace public comme une infrastructure sociale essentielle.
